Located in NY’s Finger Lakes Region between NYC & Niagara Falls, Ithaca is best known for stunning waterfalls and dramatic gorges.  Ithaca is the perfect hub for a regional Finger Lakes tour, just a short drive to the Corning Museum of Glass, MacKenzie Childs, Del Lago Casino, Watkins Glen State Park, and other popular Finger Lakes attractions.

Ithaca loves mid-week groups and you’ll love discovering awe-inspiring waterfalls that don’t require hiking to enjoy.  Ithaca Falls, right in the heart of the city is the region’s mightiest.  Revel in the roaring waters of Buttermilk Falls descending in plunging cascades.  No trip to Ithaca is complete without stopping at the region’s most outstanding view, 215ft Taughannock Falls.  At Taughannock Falls Overlook, marvel at the steep-walled gorge, carved by ice thousands of years ago.

The extensive gardens and arboretum of the Cornell Botanic Gardens offer living displays of botanic diversity in the middle of renowned Cornell University. Enjoy an afternoon on your own on the Downtown Ithaca Commons, one of the few surviving pedestrian malls left in the U.S.  Experience the centerpiece of a Nationally Registered Historic District as you browse the area’s most diverse shopping and eclectic dining, from upscale bistros to casual cafes.  While downtown, be sure to stop into the Tompkins Center for History & Culture for a little local history!

Discover views only seen from the water aboard Discover Cayuga Lake’s MV Teal.  While enjoying the scenic beauty, your group will be lead through a private tasting of a variety of wines from Cayuga Lake’s wineries, lead by local sommelier Laura Winter Falk of Experience! The Finger Lakes.  This is a brand-new, group exclusive option being offered in lieu of winery visits as many wineries no longer take large groups post pandemic. Comfortably accommodating over 60 passengers, Discover Cayuga Lake also offers a variety of interpretive lake tours highlighting the close connections between Finger Lakes products, people, and natural resources of the area.

Ithaca’s dynamic food scene offers exceptional group dining.  Relax over dinner at Coltivare, a downtown restaurant that is home to our community college’s culinary arts program.  Serving seasonal New American fare locally sourced and inventively prepared, they let the flavors of the Finger Lakes shine through.  With views of the hotel’s herb and flower gardens, and offering outdoor dining during the sunny days, The Bistro at La Tourelle features regionally inspired, farm-to-table cuisine that when seasons allow, feature fresh herbs and produce from the hotel’s very own gardens.  Enjoy the scenic lakeside at the Boatyard Grill, a local favorite!  Don’t forget to grab a scoop at Purity Ice Cream, some of the region’s best.  Ithaca is the birthplace of the ice cream sundae, after all!

At day’s end, rest your head in one of Ithaca’s group friendly hotels, from downtown locations to spacious suites.  Visit Ithaca is here to help with custom itineraries and sourcing lodging rates for your groups.  There’s always something to discover, explore and share in Ithaca.  Contact Visit Ithaca to have a custom 1, 2, or 3 night itinerary created just for your group!
